Our breath is not only vital to our survival and well-being, but provides a dynamic support for our movement.

In this workshop we will explore the roles of the body’s major diaphragms, the lungs, fluids and other tissues in breathing and movement, from a resting state to full-out dancing.

Through intentional touch and developmental movement, we will experience how the process of external respiration is supported by the internal respiration of the cells.

Guided exercises, movement facilitation and improvisation will be some of our strategies to free the breath and find new support for our dancing.

Body-Mind Centering® (BMC) is an innovative approach to movement reeducation which explores the relationship between movement and mind. Based on the embodiment of anatomical, psychological and developmental principles, BMC is an approach to experiencing our living anatomy and a method of movement analysis which can be useful in the creative process.
